Terms and conditions – Multi day tours

All cancellations must be made in writing and will be charged as follows:

• Cancellations more than 91 days prior to arrival: An administration fee of 5% will be charged.
• 90-61 days prior to arrival: 50% of the full price will be charged.
• 60 days before or less: 100% of the full price will be charged.

All our Multi-day rides are designed for riders who have good riding experience and can control a horse in all gaits in open terrain. Please note that on the tour: “Mountains of Lofoten” it is a prerequisite that the riders have good physical fitness, and are prepared for the fact that there are parts that are too steep to travel on horseback, so we have to take the legs. Participants on these tours must have experience of off-road riding and be able to trust the horse in steep sections. On all our tours it is possible to borrow: warm overalls, rainwear, helmet, gloves, salt bag and water bottle.

We offer transport to and from Svolvær and/or Leknes on the date of arrival and departure at no extra charge between 08:00 and 18:00. Collection outside these times can be arranged at an additional cost. For environmental reasons, we co-ordinate pick-ups as far as possible. There may therefore be some waiting time, but we will inform you of this. We recommend flying to Evenes and then taking a bus from there to Svolvær. It is also possible to fly all the way to Leknes or Svolvær. Please note that if you fly to Svolvær or Leknes, we recommend booking the entire journey through Widerøe or SAS.

Breakfast, lunch and 2-course dinner are included in the price. Drinks can be purchased in addition. We recommend that you bring nuts, energy bars or similar with you on your trip, as the weather and wind can sometimes delay meals. Otherwise, it’s always nice to have the option of a snack when the need arises!

Basically, the riders on the multi-day tours stay at Hov Gjestehus on the farm. It has 6 double bedrooms and 3 shared bathrooms, plus a living room, kitchen and laundry room. It has a large veranda and views of Hovstranda and the open sea, and is a gem for enjoying the midnight sun or the Northern Lights, depending on the season.Read more about Gjestehuset here

• Children under the age of 8 cannot participate in our riding tours unless approved by our staff in advance
• Pregnant women may not participate in our riding tours
• People under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances may not take part in our rides or interact with our animals at Hov Gård
• No-one may take part in a ride against their own free will
• All participants are obliged to inform the tour leader of any condition that may affect their ability to complete the planned tour
• Backpacks, bags, etc. may not be brought on the trip. Valuables can be stored in the stables in a closed room during the trip. Hov Gård does not take responsibility for personal belongings

With your safety in mind, we take our precautions to ensure that every trip is a positive and safe experience and we ask you to confirm the following before making your booking:

• I am taking this tour of my own free will
• I consider myself capable of taking part in this tour
• I have familiarised myself with Hov Gård’s instructions and safety rules and agree to follow them to the best of my ability
• I realise that riding a horse always involves a certain amount of risk
• I have informed the tour guide if I have any illnesses that may affect my ability to complete this tour (e.g. epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, etc.), and any medication that I may require
• I understand that the operator’s liability only covers accidents resulting from faults in/on/use of equipment by the company’s employees and/or carelessness on their part.
• I am solely responsible for any damage caused by me due to my carelessness or failure to follow set/given/published instructions
• I am responsible for all personal belongings I have chosen to take with me on the trip
• I am not under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances

We always put safety first. If the weather conditions are too bad or unpredictable, we may change the programme and tours.
